Things I Learned From The Power Of Intention
I couldn't write this week without remembering Dr. Wayne Dyer, author of The Power of Intention and so much more. It was Dr. Dyer's words in the Power of Intention that started me on the journey to writing my own life in the first place and his passing on August 29th has me reflecting on all of the revelations attached to that journey. Here are my top three.
The things you need in your life show up everyday as long as you're looking.
The Power of Intention came to me exactly when I needed it. I needed to see the world differently because I spent my life trying to figure out why things were happening TO ME, instead of realizing that I had the control to change things and make things happen FOR ME. I look for the lessons to appear, good, bad or indifferent they are all here to help me along my journey in life. It's amazing what comes your way when you change the way you look at things. Stop telling yourself that you have no control over your life. Grab the wheel, you're driving!
Break up with your ego.
My ego had to go! I never knew what my ego was costing me until I decided to throw it away. Wayne Dyer talked about getting rid of your need to be right and that's exactly what your ego does to you. It makes you so self important that when others don't see things the way you do it causes you to be angry, offended or hurt. Now that doesn't mean we'll all stand around the campfire and sing Kumbaya every day, but it's a damn good start! When I let go of my ego I stopped letting all the little things that get to people and ruin their day, ruin mine. It's a lot easier to stay on your path when your mind isn't clogged up with what you think others should see you as or appreciate you for. Our differences are what makes life interesting!
Happiness is a choice.
If you've ever found yourself dreaming of the person, the job, the house or the amount of money in your bank account that will make you happy, this one's for you. Happiness is a choice short term or long. Wherever you are in your day, your week or your life, if you're not happy you can turn it around. All you have to do is tell yourself you intend to be happy and you will have taken the first step. Start with your own happiness and the things you really want will follow. You'll be surprised how different those things become. Happiness is finding YOUR passion, not the passion of others. When your happiness shines, others will be inspired!
The Power of Intention is about living your life ON PURPOSE!
“Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.”
Don't talk about what you don't have, visualize your life as you want to see it and the things you think and do will change and before you know it....so will your life!
